Please note: Due to work and other current commitments, I am currently unable to undertake tuition.
I have been playing the Uilleann Pipes for 15 years, and have been fortunate enough to spend time learning with some of the greatest names in piping, such as Mick O'Brien, Mikey Smyth, Mickey Dunne, Nollaig McCarthy, Martin Nolan, Gay McKeon, Tommy Martin, Neillidh O Maolagain, Brian McNamara, Kevin Rowsome, Emmett Gill and Jimmy O'Brian-Moran. Having been privileged to sit at the feet of these great pipers has taught me a great deal about piping technique, musical interpretation and expression, piping lore and teaching techniques.

As such, I am delighted to be able to provide skillful
and patient tuition on the uilleann pipes, and over the years I have had
numerous students, of all ages and abilities. I also have
considerable experience in teaching both in a group setting at the
Hibernia School of Irish Music based in Avonmouth, Bristol, and as a
private tutor giving instruction on a one to one basis. Having struggled
to learn the pipes alone during the first year or so, I realise the great
importance of receiving instruction from a more experienced piper, and am
fully familiar with the problems that students face when taking their
first steps on the long road to becoming a piper. I feel that competent
and expert instruction is pivotal to a students future success and take
great pride in providing the best guidance possible. My tuition rates are
very reasonable and I am able to provide instruction at home in
Portsmouth, or travel to see a student should it be required and I welcome
enquiries from prospective students.
